Parashat Truma 5766
La parasha de esta semana comienza así: "Habló Adonai a Moshe diciendo: habla a los hijos de Israel y que separen en Mi nombre ofrenda. De todo hombre, a quien voluntariosamente mueva su corazón, habréis de tomar ofrenda para mí… Harán ellos en mi nombre un santuario y yo residiré entre ellos" (Shemot 25:1-2,7).
Este es el comienzo de lo que será la primera institución que construirán los hijos de Israel después de salir de Egipto, el Mishkan o Tabernáculo. A lo largo de la historia, y en cada lugar en que vivimos, los judíos hemos construido y mantenido todo tipo de espacios destinados a dar respuesta a las necesidades del pueblo: sinagogas, escuelas, colegios, academias talmúdicas, universidades, cementerios, clubes deportivos, guarderías, centros sociales, bibliotecas, hogares de ancianos, etc. Ya desde esa primera construcción, la del Mishkan, se nos enseña que todos debemos tratar de aportar para que estas instituciones, sin las cuales nuestro pueblo no hubiera podido sobrevivir, puedan construirse y mantenerse. Algunos tienen la posibilidad de aportar más, otros menos, pero es de vital importancia que todos nos comprometamos a dar de lo nuestro para que las instituciones judías sigan existiendo. Es parte de nuestra responsabilidad como judíos.

Parashat Truma 5766
This week’s parasha begins saying: “And the Lord spoke unto Moses, saying: Speak unto the children of Israel, that they take for Me an offering; of every man whose heart maketh him willing ye shall take my offering… And let them make Me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them” (Shemot 25:1-2, 8).
This is the beginning of what will be the first institution the children of Israel built after leaving Egypt, the Mishkan or Tabernacle. Along History, and at every place we live in, Jews have built and maintained all kind of places intended as response to the Peoples’s needs: synagogues, schools, colleges, Talmudic academies, universities, cemeteries, sport clubs, child care centers, social centers, libraries, elder homes, etc. From that first construction, the Mishkan, it has been taught unto us that we all must contribute for these institutions to be built and maintained, without them our People would not survive. Some have the possibility to give more, others less, but it is of vital importance that we all commit ourselves to give from our belongings for the Jewish institutions to continue existing. It’s part of our responsibility as Jews.
